I'm not usually a fan of buffet style establishments. This one isn't anything spectacular but it does have plenty of indoor seating and the selection is impressive. I had some of the peanut butter chicken which was my favorite. The fried scallops aren't bad but I usually get nervous about seafood being left out "on display". But food in general is tasty here. Service is nice but it felt like there was way too much checking if we needed refills which I'm sure they charge for. Also the A/C was way too chilly. At one point, even the power went out, I had assumed they tripped the breakers having the coolant system cranked so high!

Most of the food for me was I little on the bland side. Since I'm coming from south Texas its no surprise. I did really like the Vietnamese summer roll, peanut chicken and what I thought to be honey chicken. Regardless of my review, there were over 100 people there today who are locals and seem to like the food. The staff was wearing nice Chinese blouses that identified them. Each staff member had a different blouse making this a nice touch. I think they could have spent a little more attention on the food menu though.

Eh, I go here maybe 1 - 2 times a month with my mom on our lunch break because she likes the buffet set up (even tho she is mildly allergic to MSGs). If it was my choice/ had to pay, I would rarely/never go. The quality is a little low but decent for a buffet, price is alright and there is a large variety to pick from. Sometimes the food can be really good, fresh and hot (like burn your mouth hot) other times it can be luke warm and meh. I like consistency in the quality of my food. On several occasions after going here my stomach starts hurt. The service is good, brings drinks quickly and are usually decently friendly. Sugar coated peanuts are pretty good, the boneless ribs and fried bread dough are probably my favorite things there. The ice cream machine is nice. The fruits have a slightly off taste about them, One time I got a really undercook piece of sweet and sour chicken...

I came here with my family shortly before Christmas. Santa was there (really! I guess after spending all day in the mall, Santa craves Chinese food...) Big selection of food. Standard American-Chinese selections, and some sushi. My kids liked the ice cream machine. Thought, the green beans seemed a bit undercooked, the main dishes weren't fantastic. Just lots of grease, salt and sugar. Meh. I'll go there again if I'm invited. I won't seek it out on my own, though.

Good ol' Grand Buffet! Over the years you have grown on me. I can not pin point why but you have. The Grand Buffet in Essex Jct is not to bad. Some people love and others seem to dislike it. I stand some where in the middle for many reasons. The service here is normally pretty quick. I have never had to wait long in line to be sat. Normally I'm greeted with a smile and hello from all of their staff. They are also quick to take your dirty dishes and refill your drinks! The food here is OK. Its nothing fancy but it gets the job done! Most dishes seem to have a good turn around rate for when they refill the dish. Other times it could be better. But also be warned! If you eat a lot from here the toilet may become your best friend later in the day! (If you have a sensitive stomach.) The pricing is where it falls apart for me. For their lunch buffet you will pay around $7.61 for the buffet and a soda. So its pretty inexpensive! If you come during dinner you will pay around $16.00. Mind you its for the same menu and everything. So the pricing is all messed up. So for this reason alone I ONLY come for lunch. The dinner is a rip off. So as you can see its sorta hard to decide how many stars to give it. If it was an extra $2 or so for dinner it would be a 4/5 stars all day long! However its not. So it is what it is. But if you really enjoy buffets and need a big lunch check them out! But after 3:30pm stay away from this location its just to much!

I have only been to a few places around the area for Chinese food and have been really disappointed at the quality of it. When I got here based on a friend's recommendation, I was really skeptical especially since this is VT and it's hard to find good cultural food other than American. But when i got here- OMG. Not sure if its because I have been deprived of good asian food but everything was so yummy and the price is pretty cheap for a buffet that includes sushi. The quality of fish was surprising very good and tasted fresh. They have both raw and cooked sushi. There is a lot of seafood options and a whole bunch of variety. They also have dessert section and an ice cream machine. If you want to try some good Asian food- I would definitely recommend coming here to try it out.

Grand Buffet isn't particularly great for Chinese food, but $7.29 for all-you-can-eat lunch is a good deal. The eclectic spread is large and inclues everything from sushi to pizza. Temper your excitement about the sushi because it's mostly imitation crab, cream cheese, and salmon skin; still, the sushi chef makes it in front of you and it's not too bad. The best thing I tried was the steamed filet, which was seasoned well and quite flakey. Other than that, I would try to avoid the other seafood. The clams were sandy and the cocktail shrimp was bland and rubbery. They also have a huge selection of dessert baked goods and a healthy helping of freshly cut melons, pineapple, and other fruit. The service was great as our plates were quickly cleared whenever we left for another helping.

I'm sorry I gave this place two try's and was so discusted each time. The smell as you walk in is so bad. And I don't know what they are using for spices but they use a lot of it. I left sick to my stomach and the beginning of a migraine. I will never ever ever come here again like never.

Came here w/ my gf and her parents for a dinner night out. It is what i expected, nothing to upscale but pretty decent low key and quiet atmosphere Chinese buffet style dining. I do love Buffet dining i mean all you can eat, as many times as you can handle it. What's not to love, but maybe that's the mentality that has made America the most obese nation in the world. Oh well that's what the treadmill and running shoes are for. Location is kind of out of the way but no biggie. Waiters really don't come to often and check if you need anything, you kind of have to seek them out for yourself if you need anything which is pretty annoying. They have your standard Chinese food, plus a few different things that you won't find in your average Chinese take out like cream dumplings and Zeppole like fried dough pasties as well, which were excellent.

This place is good overall, I'd def recommend it. There is a large variety of food and deserts as well as suchi and "American food" for the kids or picky eaters. Nothing is super high quality but for a buffet its great. I really like the peanut butter chicken, its unique and very tasty. There isn't much that I don't like there except the chicken fingers. Its too bad because that is a Chinese buffet staple, how can you mess them up!? They are pretty bland and not good at all so watch out, must be the oil they use or maybe the batter. Def, a good place, its big, clean, good food, fast service, reasonable prices but watch out for higher dinner prices and higher Sunday prices with little menu change. 8/2015 update. They are very stingy with higher ticket around dinner times. For example they only bring out crab legs once every hour. They don't refill them anywhere as often as they do the other common items. Funny, since they advertise them as an available item to get people in the door. Docking another star for this since I've experienced them do this at least a dozen times.

My wife is loves to go for crab and some of the veggies. There are only a handful of foods that I go for as the rest are typically bad American-Chinese food. Food trays are often empty with an especially long wait for crab and some of the better food. Personally, I find the food at Chef Leu's in Shelburne to be much better.

This place is DISGUSTING! I joined yelp just so I could warn people about this place. When u first walk in it smells like bad seafood. Everything tastes super processed and nothing seemed fresh. The only plus was the service was polite and prompt. I would only recommend this place for really drunk college kids. Save yourself the stomach pain and pass on this one.

This is not a great buffet place. For the price, the selections were limited. The food was not very fresh.

The inside is very nice my girlfriend pointed out. The staff is friendly and ready to help. The food doesn't taste that great. It's not that hot either. Luke warm would describe the temp of the food. Some food taste okay don't get me wrong. I did find some food to be chewy. Very chewy. I'd rather order out instead of a buffet. However if you are looking for a buffet this is the one to go to around this area. The selection is good. Lots of fruits and desserts and other foods besides the usual. My girlfriend and I waited for over a hour for more crab legs. She wasn't happy. When they brought new ones out they were gone in under 2 minutes. We got some but wondered when they would put more out. Also the sushi is awesome. Overall like I said if you are looking to eat a lot of food go here because the inside is nice the wait staff is great and the selection will allow you to find something you like.

I was really excited when they came to town, but after a few visits, I feel it is overpriced and the food is lackluster. I can think of bettter places to get a meal for 2 for $30. Definitely not the best Chinese in town! I ALWAYS have buyers remorse when we go, so I stopped. Wish we had a better buffet in Vermont!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
